Default random password change?

Please Login to Remove!

this is starting to pop up on blackberries here at our work.

Security is randomly asking to change the password.

here's the scenario with my blackberry (one of the affected ones)

all of a sudden, I will try to unlock my blackberry and it will say I need to create a new password (this is after I enter my old one)

thing is, on the window that pops up it shows my characters as I enter them.

Then, I change the password to a new one, go back into security and change back to my old one.

our BES admins have assured to me that nothing has been pushed from the server to cause something like this.

Any ideas?

bump.

no one is experiencing this? we now have 3 confirmed users with this issue. it's more an annoyance than anything. all bberries are in Toronto and with Rogers. 1 7280, 1 7290 and 1 8700.

You need to look to your BES people. I have never heard of this happening. There has to be some breach to allow this, it has to be in your administration.

bump and update.

I got a 100% confirmation of BES admin that they've done no policy updates so I called up Rogers (service provider). They told me to wipe software clean and reinstall, which I did (no restore). Problem still came back.

I've just received my replacement bberry in the mail. I'm going to do a backup, then sync my new bberry with the BES without a restore to see if the password issue comes back.

If it does, then BES admin is lying to me.

BLAMMO!

earth - let us know what happens - this occurs somewhat infrequently in our organization too, with about 2% being affected...and with 2000 handhelds, that's far too high a number. Eh.

The BES admin does not realise that it is creating a problem. Good luck!

my only hope is that the BES admin is on here and reads this, then the burn would be complete.

Seriously though, I know it's common in all IT enviroments. Certain departments get crapped on. Toronto gets crapped on by Vancouver. That's what we're good for. lol.

on topic: I'll let you all what comes up. I'll give it a week to see if it asks for a password change again.

Yeah, we have about 600 or so bberry's in the office. So far 3 have been affected that I know of so it's extremely minimal.

It may be more, but the problem is a lot of users don't bother to complain. Yes, that's a good thing but it's also a catch-22 because this may be a more serious problem than we realize.
