BB Messenger Upgrade?
Please Login to Remove!
I am currently replacing my 8700c with an 8300. Is there any way to copy over my BB Messenger Buddies without having to re-request an invite for each individual? It would be quite annoying to the buddies, and me, if I have to re-request each one.
Thanks.

Back up your old BlackBerry, then sync with the new one.

Are you sure that will work? BB Messenger is based on the device's PIN and he'll have a different PIN. Never tried it, so I don't know first-hand that it won't work, but I would be surprised if it did.

No, that won't work. Your new BlackBerry will have a new PIN and you must re-request.

Stupid
They really need to fix that in the next version. I have 72 contacts that I will have to re-invite one at a time. Plus it bothers my coworkers by having to accept my invite twice. Simply stupid.
Thanks.

Really?? Not to put anyone down, but how lazy do you have to be to click a button to accept? I can understand your frustration of having to add them one at a time, but... I just don't see the big deal for them.

I did it. In DM 4.2 you can with the switch device setting. It saved my contacts so I didnt have to do it manually. Just tell them who you are and that you pin change.

Well, I guess in my case my point is that most of these people are considered my manager in some way - and I never care to do anything to upset a manager. =) To me accepting an invite is no big deal, but these people are busy. lol
And yes, from my side, having to add a punch of people again is gonna be a pain in the ass.

Guys ... just connect the old device, 2×-click Backup/Restore, backup the old handset, conect the new handset, and restore, and bingo, BB Messenger contacts transferred (along with everything else, too ^_^).

Right, but that just means YOU have THEIR names in a contact list. If they try to message you, it will never get there. They have your old PIN.
Again, you MUST reach out to them. Technically, you don't have to re-request. If you simply message them, it will update/send.
And, just my opinion, but if sending them a re-request is such a pain, why are they on your contact list? Wouldn't a normal message be equally as much of a pain?
