Default Handheld Config Tool - Status Dosent Update

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Just been introduced to the world of BES 4, we are running SP3 with Hotfix 1, this was installed for us about a week ago and has been running fine apart from one issue that started a few days ago.

The configuration status in the handheld config tool no longer updates when the 'update config check status' button is pressed, it just stays at check required. It used to update straight away, the side effect of this is that the wireless software push no longer works, it was working fine. The HHCG logs now show this when the button is pressed

[30000] (12/01 15:54:00):{0x10F0} [CHandheldView::OnUpdateConfigCheck] Checking 1 handhelds
[30000] (12/01 15:54:00):{0x10F0} [CHandheldView::OnUpdateConfigCheck] Switching to configuration ID=6
[20000] (12/01 15:54:01):{0x10F0} [CHandheldView::OnUpdateConfigCheck] PIN 24F8E215: Configuration check returned error 11

We are using 7290 handsets with ver 4 firmware.

Any Ideas

Thanks in advance

Default Try reindexing

try running loader.exe /reindex that may fix it... I actually have a similar issue happening on my system though. I'll let you know what t-support says. where did you find those HHCG logs? I have logging level 4 turned on but there not showing up with the other logs.

Default Hhcg

I just tried to run the update configuration check on BES 4.0.3 Hotfix 3 running on Windows Server 2000. In the Event Log under Application Log I have the Warning with source HHCG with description [CHandheldView::OnUpdateConfigCheck] PIN xxxxxxxx: Configuration check returned error 11 error 11. Please let me know if you find out anything.

Default Still having this problem

Has anyone found any information about this problem? I have this issue randomly and right now that random person is my boss. She can't send emails. She can receive and all of the logs show no problems with the exception of the HHCG log file that has the error 11 entry. I have reloaded the user, resent the service book (that applied successfully), and even did Enterprise Activation OTA. Everything completes successfully and all checks out fine. I have restarted the BES services and the SQL Services. Still nothing.

When you guys upgraded to BES 4.0 did you perform a Enterprise Activation on the user's BlackBerry?

The HHCG's mechanism can drive you nuts, but it is sweet when you finally get it to work.

I've run into the error 11 issue before. According to RIM, it often involves a failed write access to the PackageCache path, usually found under c:\program files\research in motion\blackberry enterprise server\packagecache.

Here's RIM's entire list of recommendations:

Resolution
This issue may be resolved using one of the methods below.

A. Recreate the PackageCache Folder

1) Stop the BlackBerry Policy Service.
2) Delete the PackageCache folder.
3) Restart the BlackBerry Policy Service.
Note: It may take up to 4 hours for the folder to be recreated.

B. Verify User Permission Level

1) In the Control Panel, go to Administrative Tools>Services.
2)For the BlackBerry Policy Service, check the user account selected on the Log On tab.
3) The user account identified in step 2 should have Full Control NTFS permission to the PackageCache folder. If necessary, change the user permission to the folder.

C. Change PolicyCache Folder Attributes

1) Right-click the PackageCache folder and select Properties.
2) On the General tab, make sure that the Read-only check box is not selected.
3) Click Advanced.
4) In the Archive and Index attributes section, make sure that the check box beside For fast searching, allow Indexing service to index this folder is selected.
5) In the Compress or Encrypt attributes section, clear the check box beside Compress contents to save disk space and Encrypt contents to secure data.

I hope that this helps.
