Default unlocking 8800 from CINGULAR & BLACKBERRY launch event

Please Login to Remove!

I now have the solution for the 8800 from the Cingular launch event.

Ir has been reported here and many other places that the phones from the launch event can not be unlocked

PM me or email
[email address]

the codes take up to 7 days to retrieve. (some times less)

you can also go on to my site and purchase the service there.

Thanks

Ari

Glad to hear there is now a solution, but it sure does cost more.

Any reason it costs 4.5 times as much as the regular 8800? Are you paying off somebody on the inside =) I can do 20$ for the convenience but 90 is asking a bit much

Supply and demand if nothing else... It wasn't that long ago that it was $100 minimum to unlock any BB and you had to mail your BB.

I'd be curious to hear a response from an actual resource also.

Wow - that is way too much for me. I'm going to wait until others can provide the same service or just not unlock it.

I hope the price does go down with time.
it was only 2 moths ago that all cingular blackberrys were $40 to unlock (before I launched my site)

The price may be high but this service is not for every one.

If I can get a better solution I will post here.
For the time being this is the only one.

Yeah, seems a bit limited, considering that only a few people have the launch versions. For this price, it might be worth it to buy it straight from cingular then have them unlock it.

I don't understand - I have always called cingular support to unlock my phone. I had an 8700c before, and I called them and got it unlocked. With my 8800c, I called them a week ago and requested it to be unlocked, reason being I travel internationally and need to swap SIMs - they were perfectly ok with it and unlocked my phone. This is free.

Yes, thats true - didn't congress pass a law that phone providers HAVE to unlock your phone when requested? I unlocked my 8700c through cingular, and my girlfriend unlocked her razor through Tmobile. However, I think this might be a bit different with the "launch" devices.

Blackberry is the one that locks the devices for the carriers. They send the codes to the carriers but did not do so yet for the launch units. If anyone gets their launch unit unlocked please let us know how.

Ah, ok makes sense. So basically that $90 is going to someone at Blackberry who is giving out the codes that they SHOULD have handed over to cingular. Nice.

Cingular does have the codes for the Launch Event 8800's.

I got mine unlocked two weeks ago, by calling cingular and filling out a unlock request.

I got my code in less than a day even though they told me it would take 5-7 days and I might not get approved, as I am not a Cingular customer.

P.S. When I recieved my code it said "Subsidy Unlock code for 8700c".

Yeah man - I'm an idiot. I just called Cingular and they are unlocking it as we speak! Easy! And I actually need an unlocked phone - going to Europe this weekend!

Also - they did mention "subsidy unlock code", so mention that if the person is clueless.
