Default Desktop Manager and 7100t help

Please Login to Remove!

I have several questions, I have searched but have had trouble finding a solution.

I recently go desktop manager 4.2 and i have a bb7100t at 4.10.309. I saw right away that I could have problems due to the difference in versions which i noticed after the download. You see, I have dial up and it takes quite a while to download this. Surely enough when i started the DM, I had trouble:

Application loader:
The blackberry desktop software does not have blackberry software device for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator.

Media Manager:
The connected blackberry device does not support transferring media files. Verify that the device has blackberry software version 4.2 or later installed.

Backup and Restore worked fine. I haven't tried the rest.

I read the readme which stated: For instructions on setting up your device, refer to the printed documentation that came with your device.

The thing is when i bought this it didnt come with instructions, just the system, usb, battery and ac plug.

So i guess my ultimate questions are:
1. Do I have to update to 4.2? If so how?
2. Or do i have to get desktop manager all over again?
3. Does this blackberry even support the features I've been trying to access? (media manager etc.)

Thanks in advance, I searched topics but they either confused me or i needed more explanation. I am very grateful to anyone with a solution.

Question 3 answers 1 and 2.

There is no version 4.2 for the 7100, and will never be. Desktop Manager 4.2 works fine with a 7100 with v4.1, but you will not get Media Manager to work.

I understand, thanke for the kind reply.
is there any way to get media manager or application loader to work in my current situation? Perhaps by downloading DM 4.1? Just need confirmation.

Media manager will never work with the 7100.

Desktop Manager 4.2 will work fine.

In order to see the software installed on your 7100 in App Loader you'll need to install the 4.1.0.309 OS package to your PC. Then it will show up in App Loader.
