I would think this is a popular question, but I couldn't find an answer via a search.

I'm with Verizon and have the 7130e. They don't offer the Pearl. I'm wondering if I can buy a Pearl and use it with my Verizon account.

It's a work account, so I can't just switch providers.

I'm guessing "no," as I assume that Verizon would need specific software (?) just for the Pearl. But I'm really not that well versed in all this cellphone technology.

You can't use a Pearl on Verizon's network.
The Pearl is a GSM device (works on GSM networks such as AT&T and T-Mobile).
Verizon's network is CDMA, not GSM.

CDMA and GSM are incompatible network technologies.

A CDMA version of the Pearl is rumored to be released for Verizon in November.

Also, you can't use a non-Verizon phone on their network. They will not allow it. Neither will Sprint allow a non-Sprint phone on their network.

I would think that only GSM carriers allow it. The primary reason being that they can't stop you from putting your SIM in any phone you like. Of course, as I found out with T-Mobile, you're on your own. T-Mobile does have a support team for unsupported devices (irony anyone) but they can't fix what the network does.
