Default AIM on Curve 8310...please help

Please Login to Remove!

I recently got my BB Curve 8310 without a data plan but I have the unlimited messaging plan.

I have been told that I can use AIM on my phone but I don't see AIM. How can I get it? Do I have to download it onto my Curve? Is there a charge for the download?

Once I do get AIM, will I have to go online (MediaNet) just to use it? What are the charges for it?

I am not familiar with this at all. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!

For text/SMS messaging, you need to look for the OZ application. All the others will use a data plan on the BB,

Good luck... and welcome to the BBF.

I think you may still need a data plan to get connected to OZ. In case you want to give it a try, here is a download link: http://nig.gr/144t

OZ uses SMS messaging, and you can get it from your phone
Medianet>tones, games, apps>cool tools/apps>community&photos>Mobile IM

Its a free download, just click buy it now, and then you have to click the Mobile IM on the next page to DL it.
You will be charged a minimal fee for the kb used to DL it, but you donot need to go back to medianet to use it..
Although to get your buddy list, you probably need a data package, although if you get one and only use AIM, you could get away with a minimal plan.

Thanks! I was wondering what OZ was exactly. I'll try it.

I know there's a RIM AIM client, Sprint has it... have we been able to extract the service books for it to use it on other carriers?

since you have unlimited sms/text message you can just forward your message to your phone. then people can chat with you but then if you want to see your buddy list then you might need a program and then your going to the data part of your phone and u might charged for that.
