So here's the scene - I am an aviation maintenance contractor who lives in France, took a contract in UK earlier this year and bought a payg Blackberry 9300 on o2.
I no longer work in UK - I'm heading to UAE to work long term next week.
I bought an unlocking service from t'interweb, but how can I tell if BIS is still locked to o2? When i call o2 they are a bunch of muppets who don't have a clue what i'm talking about.
They tell me they can unlock the handset which will leave it free to be used elsewhere, but the phone and sim must be located in UK to do that. I ain't travelling all the way to uk just to unlock a phone! I guess I can send it to a mate and then get it done but i'd like to check the BIS status first.
When I check the status screen i get the following
SIM - disabled
Network - disabled
Network subset - disabled
Service Provider - disabled
Corporate - disabled
I'd like to register it with my French contract but not sure I can, and i can't do the host routing registration now presumably because I am outside France (Belgium)
So - am I locked to o2 on BIS? How can I cancel my current BIS account, do I even need to?
OMG this is ridiculous! I'm getting close to launch this berry out the window and switch to iPhone!
I can't log in to BIS because i've never set up a desktop browser access. I can't set up a new access because step one is verification of my device which is currently not connected to the network because its out of credit, so access to BIS has been suspended. I cant put credit on it because i'm not in the uk.Back to o2 muppets........
