...but I am curious:

I would really like to have the GPS version of the Curve. A rep at AT&T said that at some point, RIM will stop issuing refurb 8300's and warranty exchangers will begin receiving 8310's in exchange for damaged/malfunctioning 8300's. From the sound of things, I could use the dust under my screen as an excuse to request a warranty exchange.

Does anyone have any knowledge with this situation?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Or you could just get a Bluetooth GPS receiver and not have to wait until they start doing this. They aren't too expensive. It would also save you a trip to mass to confess your sins.

Good idea.. it's not really something I'm willing to spend money to get though. "My Location" works very well most of the time, but if a "free upgrade" to GPS is available, I hope to be all over it

Also some will not exchange your device for dust under the screen after the original return time limit. They will say it is a cosmetic thing and does not effect the operation of the phone!

well in that case, I would report random restarts and such. I'm evil. (I'm totally kidding here)

lol... just what I was thinking; like a conversation that is prefaced with "I am going to be honest..."
