I got an unlocked BB 9700 this Monday, and I decided to use it with an ATT sim card without data plan.

I found a post online about how to use BB 9700 wi-fi without a data plan. I followed the instructions to enable wifi without the data plan. As suggested by the post, I also deleted all the entries in the service book except those about wifi and mms, in case BB used any data transfer with the ATT for wifi.

Now I realize I may have made a mistake by removing the SMS from the service book as well, because I cannot receive/send SMS. Since I forgot to backup the data, I don't know if I can get SMS back from my PC. I try to send the registration msg in the host routing table, but there is no reply probably because I have no data plan with ATT.

Any suggestion to restore my service book, and SMS in particular, is highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

can you burrow a sim card from someone with ATT who has data? get the service books, then return the card

It would have to be a Blackberry data plan, to get blackberry service books.
an iphone data plan doesn't give access to blackberry service books.
