Default Activating UK Handset & Provider (BT) on U.S. BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

We are currently running a BES with 12 users in the U.S. We have an individual who will be working for us in England and want to get him activated on our BES server with Exchange. He is exploring service provider options there and wants to go with BT. Is it as simple as him setting up service and us wirelessly activating him on our BES?

I do not see any service plan at the BT website referencing anything such as a BlackBerry Enterprise plan. It appears they do have a BIS service though.

Any help would be great as to how I would proceed under this situation.

Thanks for the help.

Yes (I do the exact same thing in reverse, BES is in UK and users in USA/CA/EU/wherever).

As long as the UK user has a BlackBerry Corporate data plan, all should be fine. o2, Vodfafone, t-mobile and orange definitely offer corp BB. I have never looked into BT, but because of their history (used to be only telco provider in UK, large history in PBX and "home" phones etc) not many people at all ever try to use BT as their mobile/cell provider.

It seems that BT offer BES, so I would imaging you can get a corp BB data plan (without buying BES through them). No obvious links on site tho, you user would probably have to call them
BT.com

I also have to say that IMO BT have some of the worst customer services ever. I'd advise your user to get his BB from t-mobile, o2, or Vodafone

Thank you all very much for the replies and the link. I never would have found that. His objective is to bundle all his services (broadband etc.) into one so I think that is why he is going with BT.

He has informed me that BT uses Voda for the mobile service? Is that true?

Hi
<blatant pimp>

Drop me a PM. We're a UK VF / O2 reseller with lots of BB experience (check my number/quality of posts). Happy to deal with US based companies, provided can bill to credit card for European staff.

We would provide device on either O2 or VF, and make sure it's on the correct plan, plus as we're a smaller reseller we'd treat you like individuals rather than just a mobile number which you're likely to get with BT.

Oh and we can do landline and broadband as well, and do so for a large number of globally known brandnames...

Rgds
BB

And as Bertie is made of liquorice / coconut / aniseed jelly and fruit flavourings, you can eat him if he messes up your BB user's service. It's a win-win situation!
