I will be going to China in February so here are my questions.

• My 8300 Curve is UNLOCKED already
• I am on an International data plan with at&t
• But I want to switch in and out of my at&t SIM card when I need to download data and email which I will do 3 times day but
• I want to use a local Chinese SIM for making calls to local Chinese #s while traveling around there. Is there a company there that anyone would recommend that would sell just SIM card for minutes? I will be in Beijing, Shanghai and the other cities.

This is my first time doing this so any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have this pay-as-you go charge type SIM here in HK. Not sure about China tho.

i know this is too late but just in case... in china they also have pre-paid SIM card. it was (3 years ago) 50 chinese yuan (about 7 USD) per card (not include air time). you have to pay air time seperatly. it's about 8 cents (again, 3 years ago) per minute.

if your phone is GSM, you go to the company CMCC. if yours is CDMA you go to another one i forgot the name. there are only two mobile carriers you should be easily figure out.

you can get cheap sim cards at every corner in china. china mobile has the best network and also reasonable prices. should be no problem to get one.

btw: all sim cards in china are pre-paid
