Default Help! I can't upgrade my blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone!
I have a 8703e for Verizon. I'm trying to upgrade it from v4.1 to v4.2. I went to the Verizon website and downloaded the device update and the device manager. I installed both packages as told. When I connect my blackberry to the computer, the Device Manager client says 'Waiting.' But after a while the program freezes. I figured the program is doing something, so I let it run for an hour. When I come back it still says 'Waiting.' Could someone please help me out on this?

Ryan, welcome to the BBForums.

Did you download the Desktop Manager? That is what you need... best for you would be version 4.2, Service Pack 2
Here: BlackBerry Desktop Manager Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

Then follow these directions:

Are you using Device Manager or Desktop Manager? There is a difference. Desktop Manager is what you need for upgrades.

And welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the responses!
Jsanders - I just downloaded 4.2 sp2. We'll see what happens.

Juwaack68 - Yes, I am using the Desktop Manager. I just wrote down the wrong thing. My apologies.

I'm going to try this again. I'll let you guys know what happens!
Thanks!

Alright. The desktop manager connects with my blackberry but it just says 'working' and won't do anything else. Its been stuck at working for about 45 minutes.

Nevermind. After playing with it for a few minutes. It works! Thanks everyone!

Ryan, let me suggest two simply things. Unplug the USB from the BB, close down the PC, reboot it. Do the same on the BB... remove the battery while powered on, remove battery, replace reboot.

Now, try all again -->> plyug in the BB to the USB, Open DM, begin upgrade process... etc.

JSanders - Thank you for your help! I had to repeat the process you suggested 3 times for it to finally work. My blackberry is now 4.2!

I appreciate all your help!
