Thumbs down App for BB device to enter & save customer details – How?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to prepare application for BB.

As example:
Application should capture customer name and address via device and those data should send to server side.
There is separate server and there it is running SQL database for store customer data.

*** How can I implement this application?
*** Do I have to use J2me or web base application?
*** How can I connect and save customer data in SQL Database?
*** What are the good resources available in internet ( for beginners)?

Thanks
uJ

Have a look at the examples in the JDE and on the Blackberry developer web pages. Lots of examples and guides.

You can do it either way as a web page or as a jde or as a web service. depends on your requirements.

if you create your server-side code carefully and utilise a web-service (soap) interface you could have a standard website interface, a blackberry specific website and a native blackberry application that feeds the db.

imo the easiest way is to transfer the data via a server component.
have your blackberry open a socket connection and transfer the data, a server component receives the data, wraps them into sql-commands and executes them via jdbc.

if you have a BES running your BB and your server are in the same subnet so you don't need any cryptography etc.

wrote several applications of this kind myself, if you have any further questions.
