After an OTA download, the BB shut off & then attempted to come on again but it continuously goes off and then on with the hour glass spinning... does anyone know what happened and what I should do?

Try a battery pull when the device is on if it stays on long enough. Hopefully this clears it as the next step is probably a wipe and reload of the OS.

Thanks, I tried the battery pull which doesn't work, but after doing some re(search) on here, I'm guessing that last ota download tipped the scales... if you know what I mean... Thanks for replying!

You can use JLCommander to wipe the device and reload the OS. 4.5 handheld OS is now available for the 8700 model. The newer OS has spellcheck as one of the many enhancments. You will have to attach the USB and try to catch the device while it boots using JLCommander and wipe the device. Then reload the newer OS or the original At&t version 4.2xxxx...
