Default BT puck on 4.5.0.77

Please Login to Remove!

Anybody using a QStarz puck on an 8830 with 4.5? I can pair my BT-Q818 extreme, but after that it never connects. Rescanning does not find it again, so the BB knows it is already paired. No prompt to connect to it when I turn it on. All worked great before 4.5. I've tried deleting and repairing many times.

After Bluetooth pairing, try going to Options/Advanced Options/GPS and change the GPS Data Source to the paired puck. Also, set GPS Services to Location On.

I hope it solves the problem for you. Depending on the application, you may also have to change the GPS settings within the app. The app might now see the GPS source as an internal GPS com port, rather than an external puck.

I have tested 4.5 with Google Maps, BB Maps, Nav4All, etc., and it works well. The puck will occasionally refuse to communicate with the app, but reseting the puck or the Bluetooth connection fixes it.

Well it is communicating with the puck now in BBMaps, but it never actually seems to find satellites. Google Maps keeps using cell triangulation. Going to have to test it some more.

I've done more testing and there is some kind of problem. I would say it is a 4.5 issue. After initial pairing it just will not connect to the device again. After pairing if I turn the puck off, the BB doesn't even notice. I have to tell it to disconnect the puck via the blue tooth options. Unless some kind of firmware update is needed on the puck, I'm just SOL until there is an official VZW release so I can get support.
