hey all I've been thinking about either getting a storm or a new curve 8900. I'd opt for the storm. But I would like to know if you could verify something for me. I've had 5 different touch screen devices and in all of them I've had one major problem. While listening to music, typing slows down consideribly, or the screen is less sensitive. I'm always listening to music, so my only criteria are:
•Decent keyboard.
•Good battery life (at least one day with very heavy emails and jivetalking). From what i've seen, .83 fixed that problem. Right? Or am I incorrect.
•Play music while typing.
•Change keyboard t9 predictive text languages easily. (so far the iPhone beats all with the main screen world button to change between predetermined languages).

Is the storm right for me? Thanks .

- Personally, I like the keyboard. I use the SureType one more than the qwerty but both are nice.
- Just an FYI, JiveTalk is currently not compatible (:() and won't be until "early 2009."
- There is no t9 input on the Storm. You have the option of multitap (like a standard keypad) or SureType in portrait mode, and the QWERTY in landscape mode.

So ... does the music play and the keyboard work flawlessly? That's a big concern for me? The main reason why I returned the 2 htc devices and the samsung omnia!

I personally think the keyboard is easy to adapt to. Sure, there's a little learning curve (such as, in Qwerty, do not try to overreach and cross the mid mark with either hand) but overall a very nice keyboard.

There is no guarantee that you won't miss keys - that can be done on a device with keys. I still have mess-ups now and then and I agree that there's a learning curve. I don't listen to music on the phone so I don't know how it works multitasking with music playing. The phone does have some slow downs because it is a new device. OS updates are working on fixing these problems.

I'd suggest looking into your carrier's return policy and getting one to test it out. That's the only way you're going to know whether it is right for you, or whether it'll end up with the other phones you've returned For me, I love the Storm and so do many other people, but it's not for everyone.

music: no problems, does it all.
the battery life is decent - lasts me about 2 days wit hlight use, 1 day with heavy.
i never really cared for t9, usually turned it off. suretype seems much more natural to me.
once you get familiar with the touch aspects of the storm, it's your best friend. remember it's not a keyboard: don't expect to use it like one.
