I'm on a BES and my IT department is in another city and most of the time very hard to get a hold of. I'm getting the "Input System Error: System is restarting" error frequently. I'm on software version 4.6.0.167 and have been told this error is fixed with the latest software upgrade. If this is true, is there a way to upgrade my software either through Desktop Mgr or Wirelessly without having to go through my IT Dept?

You do not have to go with your IT dept for a s/w upgrade. However if the phone was issued by the IT dept. then you should check with them just to be safe if they prohibit upgrading the device. If you own the device and are sure that they do not prevent such an upgrade.

- Install Desktop mgr.
- During the install choose redirection via Exchange or Notes
- Ensure that DM can connect to the messaging system and recognizes your BB (when you connect it via USB). if you access your email via a VPN, you may have to VPN before you start it up.
- Exit DM
- Once it is good to go, download the version of OS you want to install. If necessary, delete the Vendor.xml file from C:\Program Files\Common\Research In Motion\Apploader
- Start DM and connect your BB
- Go through the upgrade process
