Question Can't Clear New Message Indicator

Please Login to Remove!

I've tried the suggestions in this thread, but can't seem to clear the new message indicator.

I have a BB9630 running 5.0.0.591 on Verizon. My main screen shows the envelope icon at the top with the red star and 2 messages unread. My inbox has both my SMS & desktop email. When I unhide the SMS icon, it sometimes shows the red asterisk there as well. When I go into my SMS list, nothing is unopened. Just for good measure, I "mark prior opened" in both mailboxes, but that still doesn't clear the indicator.

I even tried the trick of turning the voicemail indicator on and off and rebooting.

Anybody have any other suggestions? I'm about out of ideas...

Wirelessly posted (At&t curve)

Send yourself a text, and then mark prior opened before you read it.

Have you tried viewing saved messages to ensure there are no unread saved messages?

Do a show all (to show all hidden icons). Look for a message/email account you have forgotten about. It may be in a folder. It has an unread message in it. (When it happens to me, it's usually in the [email address] account.)

Phantomtech, I checked saved messages as one of my first things. No dice.

And TXLady, I've tried the "show all" function several times. When I do that, it usually shows up in the SMS/MMS inbox, but i've "marked prior read" in there at least 3-4 times (even though nothing was showing as unread), and I even took the step of deleting all of those texts. Still doesn't clear.

I'm probably going to just wipe and reload to be done with it. Wish I had a different answer.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

phantomtech - thanks for the tip. I had an unopened saved message. Problem cured.
