Default Curve 8320 on generic data plan

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with setting up your blackberry so it can use a generic data plan (aka the 9.99 plan)?

I've already followed the steps in the FAQ but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm with t-mobile btw here in the US

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What "doesn't seem to work"?

What results were you expecting? What results are you getting?

What exactly are you trying to do?

Ditto the above.

FYI in case you don't know, you set the apn in TCP settings in options, but you will not be able to use blackberry branded apps such as blackberry messenger. For that you will need the blackberry data plan.

Sorry, let me be more specific.

Yes, I know that using a generic data plan means that i would not be able to use things like blackberry maps, blackberry browser, blackberry email, etc. That's fine, I don't need that.

However, according to the guide in the FAQ section, once you download a 3rd party browser (such as mini opera) you should be able to surf the internet through that just fine.

I changed the APN in the TCP section to wep.voicetream.com but opera is still not working.

Any tips as to what else i might have to configure?

Yeah, my response was going to be that I think that FAQ page needs to be updated because you have to have a BlackBerry Data Plan now for it to work.

Wirelessly posted

I don't doubt Ringer and Mama, but I'm still curious. What happens with epc.tmobile.com instead of wap.voicestream.com?
