Default want to do full phone wipe and install latest OS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello boys and dolls,

I want to completely wipe the 9700 and do a fresh install of just the latest OS only. This is because there is lag with the cursor and it constantly freezes up on me. I was very embarrassed when during a meeting I tried to take a clients number and my phone bloody froze. She looked at me and I looked at her to say sorry.

Thanks for the help.

If you have experience use JL_cmdr. If not simply download the new OS and using desktop manager do an upgrade. Dont forget to do a backup first.
You really do not need to completely wipe the BB to upgrade.

but dude it reminds me of when you keep installing windows updates and keep installing and removing apps, the OS gets bogged down and is slow and sluggish. A complete format C: followed by fresh install of windows cures it. I'm sure this will cure my BB too. I'm sick of the sluggishness and freezing up.

Maybe you need to try to find the source first. If you don't identify the cause and take an action that won't cure it, then it will just reoccur.

Define "lag"

How much free memory do you have? A slow BB is a common indicator of low memory.

How many apps do you have installed? Is your music, photos and ringtones all installed on the SD card? How many apps are open at any one time? Are these data intensive apps?

Tsac made a good suggestion about not wiping and just upgrading. A BB isn't a Windows device and doesn't behave as a Windows device might.
