Default internal device memory is only 23.8 MB..!!!

Please Login to Remove!

hello,
i am a new user to the blackberry series and blackberry perl is my 1st phone.

when i started desktop manager, it shows that device memory is only 23.8 MB in size and the limit to transfer file is 2.86 MB.

i clicked on media manager and i am able to see these figures.

any idea why its less ..? i thought it is suppose to have 64 MB of internal memory.

how do i increase the file size limit...?

thanking you
milan

well it has 64MB but you have applications on that memory plus the BB operating system that takes up about half of the BB memory. Get yourself a microSD card and you dont have to worry about anything. I have a 1 gig microSD and have 37.6MB left on my BB pearl

I've searched some other threads and tried deleting things but I still have a memory problem, I think. I have no ringtones, no songs, no pictures, no files, no attachments and I deleted all my e-mails and text messages, yet when I connect my pearl to media manager, it shows 19mb total space and 9.5mb free space. Is this accurate? Am I doing something wrong?

So basically you're limited in the amount of media you can put on the internal memory regardless of how much is free? Not a big deal since I have a MicroSD card coming in, just inconvenient for the next day or 2.

Thanks a ton, that helps. Upped the limit and decreased reserved space...will experiment.

I keep forgetting to hit the menu button wherever I am to check the different options, learning though!

Same here, ordered a 1GB Kingston microSD from newegg. Guarenteed three day shipping so hopefully by the end of the week.
