Exactly. If you don't, it won't let you put anything into the music section...well it will, but there's a really, really low file-size maximum that it abides by, which is too small for most song files.

Same thing happened to me at first; ended up I had accidentally put the card on "Mass Storage Mode." Take the battery out, take the card out, then put it back in, then put the battery back in. It'll ask you if you want to use "Mass Storage Mode," and select no. Put the songs on through the desktop software's media manager, and you should be good to go.

Check 'My Computer'. It should show up there as another drive. You can transfer files into the blackberry\music directory and when you unplug the phone you should see them in the Music section.

having it set to "mass storage mode" has nothing to do with the music not showing up in fact it should be set to mass storage mode.. Make sure the music is in the right location on the card using your computer like stated above. the best way I have found is to copy the music to the card while in mass storage mode... faster than the desktop manager by far and then if you get sick of the song on your BB just delete it and its still on your computer..
its should be drive F on most computers and then explore and you will find the music folder make sure they are there and in the right format....

also while plugged into your computer and mass storage mode is on the card will not show on the BB while plugged in first unplug from USB and then look if your just using the BB to explore the files

Thumbs down

I am testing a new one right now in advance of a massive deployment of the units within the enterprise.

I am baffled by just how to get some simple, and TINY, music files on to the unit.

While there is no media card, the thing flat out refuses to accept any sound file sent to it.

By all means, its yours! ;)

Also, I figured it out. i was trying to out-think myself, and plop it on there through some web links et al....

Which was dumb since desktop manager has a media utility that lets you blast it right on the device :SHAME:
