Default Media card causing reset

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100, and tried using a 2GB Sandisk media card that was previously used in my fathers 8800, but it causes the blackberry to restart when I try to turn it on after inserting the card. I tried to reformat it, and that didn't help either : /

Any ideas?

I can't offer any help, but I'll add some data. I ordered a 2Gb Sandisk to use in my Garmin GPS, then read on a GPS forum that the Sandisk 2Gb would not work in the Garmin. In fact, when I received it it wouldn't work with my PC either. When I formatted it (using the PC) it formatted as 1 Gb. It works that way. The problem seems to be with Sandisk.

You have an old version of the BlackBerry OS, upgrade to the newer ones that allow you to use 2GB. The first OS's only allowed 1GB so that's what's causing it.

Default Thanks!

Thanks a ton guys.

How do I update my OS though?

I've read that the desktop manager should detect the need to update, but it doesn't. It says that the bb is running the latest os, which doesn't correspond with what it says on the device itself. Is there any way to force a firmware upgrade?

I have a t-mobile pearl on the cingular network

here is something from the old post. Thanks to Nitty for his post.

-----------------
It's quite simple.

1) Start by downloading the software update then run and install the OS update.

2) Do not mark the option to open Desktop Manager when you see that option appear

3) If your Pearl isn't a Rogers branded one then go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete Vendor.xml

4) Connect BlackBerry to computer via USB and open up the desktop manager

You should see then be prompted for the update to take place. Leave your BlackBerry connected until the OS upgrade has finished and do not disconnect it during the process.
-----------------

NOTE:- Nitty mentioned name Rogers, in point 3. Rogers is company providing bb in canada. and their OS supports 2 GB cards. You can try with the new T-mobile version [italy release]. In this case also, I would recommend to delete vendor.xml file after you install T-mobile [italy version] of OS. You can find the link of it on the http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...y-release.html

Hope this helps.
