Default GPS Charges

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched all the threads I could, but I cant find an exact answer for my question. I have been trying to find out what extras charges are incurred while using GPS (GPS Puck) with my curve. I know that when i am using bb mpas, i am downloading small amounts of data that will be used against my data plan. If i use a gps puck with bb maps, is there an additional charge, or just the same charge I would normally get while using maps.

controlled, it is the same data as if you were using BBMaps. Unless you have a third party application that requires a month fee, your only charges are from data.

Does that mean that if you have an unlimited BB plan, using the maps software with the Freedom GPS Mini is at no additional cost? Thanks.

Yes, it does. You purchase the gps puck, and the unlimited data is unlimited.

A subscription gps program like Telenav is different, you pay their monthly fee, but the data use via the BB is still from data.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I think one needs to be sure 'unlimited' really means unlimited. If using the heck out of google maps, for example, I wonder if it would be possible to really run up the MB's in useage. No big deal on TMO, but I gather there is an 'abuse' cap with some carriers. If really concerned, might be worth looking into.

AT&T only charges extra for tethering. This is not tethering.

Okay...I've got the Freedom puck. So now it's just a matter of which mapping software to choose. Is Telenav significantly better than BB or Google's versions?

I have used all three--BBMaps, Google Maps, and Telenav.

Yes Telenav is light years beyond the other three as far as directions and it has the voice talk, along with some extras. I like the other two, but there is no comparison to TeleNav.
