On my pearl, when i try to change a custom ringtone from what the older one was, i go into my address book and change it that way. Down at the very bottom of the profile it says it is the new ringtone, but when it rings it is the old one. what am i doing wrong?

Do a reset. Try taking out the battery for 30 seconds and then put it back in. This should work.
