Default RIM Support for AIM?

Please Login to Remove!

I know there are ways to get AIM and Y! IM access on the BB with IM+ and other clients. However, I read an article (dated in March I think) that RIM was going to start supporting both on the BB. Anyone know the status of this? If this is true and it uses the standard data plan, sounds like some of the existing offerings that charge per month or even a single license fee (like IM+) will not get much business. Anyone know the status?

Thanks

Never heard of that, sorry. But I'd be interested to know. Can anyone shed any light on the first point smbyers makes that RIM intends to support AIM, Yahoo, or any other third-party instant messaging service? Sounds improbable but stranger things have happened, I guess.

And it is not free to use. Let me use Cingular's voice: IT IS FREE TO INSTALL ON THE BB NOT FREE TO USE IT -

They are coming...next in line is MSN (according to several sources). Not details on AIM as yet.

Currently Yahoo is available on 02 (UK), Nextel, and Rogers. More carriers are coming early in the new year.

yahoo messenger is available through nextel and roger as stated above. however i have nextel and it is completely free to use with nextels service. it does not cost anything beyond your data plan. im not sure about rogers though as im in the us and have never used rogers service.
