Hello,
Recently upgraded from a flip phone to BB8100. Just been about 2 1/2 weeks and phone got water damaged

. Silly me, left the BB8100 in the gym bag with a partial open water bottle. Before I new it, the water came into contact with BB. I dried the phone quickly in a dry towel. Removed the battery and sim card to let the phone dry out completely. The BB has been placed in a rice filled container to continue the drying process

. Its been about 3 days in the rice. Followed the guidelines on this forum but have not disassembled the phone yet as I have not purchased the Torx-6 tool. I will disassemble the phone per the guidelines on this forum to make sure the BB is completely dried out.
I decided to be brave and switched the BB on. It took the usual start up time with the hour clock rotating and then the carrier logo came on

. The phone has life and seems to be working. I moved the trackball on the home page and it was skipping from icon to icon with just one touch. It was racing through the icons.
1. Could it be the trackball is damaged and causing this skipping motion?
2. Should I replace the trackball when I disassemble the BB?
3. I tested the battery in a friends BB8100 and it powered his BB with no problem. I guess the battery is good or should I replace with a new battery?
4. The LCD screen seems OK, but has water residue showing. Should I just replace the LCD screen? I am letting the BB and LCD dry out till Sunday 7/6/08 after which I will power BB up again to see how the LCD shows and trackball behaves.
I believe my BB has life and just needs to be completely dried out with the required parts replaced (if needed). Please help by responding to my questions. Any other suggestions are helpful.
Thank you,
