Default "locked" out, need help

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8330 and when the buttons or trac-ball are pressed ... nothing happens. The trac-ball will move the cursor on the home screen, but that's it - nothing else. The battery seems to be working properly and does take a charge. I have done several battery pulls and at different intervals. I need help!

Sounds like moisture damage.

Is there any way to visibly tell if it is infact moisture damage? Would an OS install help?

Typically, the moisture damage on the keypad is not visible. The damage is done to the keypad contacts which are part of the main board. The Curve 83xx series keyboard is very sensitive to moisture.

Has the device been exposed to ANY moisture at all? Even a little tiny bit? Steamy bathroom, sweaty pocket, wet hands, wet hair, dew, other high humidity environment.

If the device has physical damage, load or reloading the device OS won't help. But it won't hurt either, so you could try that.

Bought the phone used, so I don't know what conditions the phone had been subject to. Owner said it had "software" problems. I am going to try the "rice" thing that I've read about in this forum (I want it, the phone, to stay healthy so I think I'll use brown rice! Ha, Ha!). Then I'll do the OS thing. Thanks for your help and advice.

Don't know wy or how, but the used curve that I bought started working! I did put the phone in rice as I said above and I also took the phone completely apart to inspect for corrosion on the button contacts. Didn't see any and thought that I amy have damaged the phone in the process, but once I got it all put back together the buttons and tracball started working. Thanks for your help MM!
