I think I know the answer to this but have promised a user that I would post the question here anyway.

Exchange 2003 / BES 4.1

The user has many server-side rules that move e-mails to Inbox subfolders. From what I can tell, these rules pre-empt transmission of e-mails through the BES to the BB.

Am I correct in assuming that is just the way it works?

That depends on whether you allow the subfolders to sync as well.

Under "Folder Redirection" you can choose which folders should sync to the Blackberry. So if you tick all the folders you have in your rules, you will get all the mails that are moved by the rules.

By default, only Inbox and Sent Items are redirected.
