Default +1?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey

Ive got a BB 7290...

Everytime I click on a persons name from the address book, it adds a +1 (im in Canada) and dials! The problem is I don't want that to happen because then it makes long distance calls without me knowing

I am in a funny situation because I live in two towns and have a number for inbetween so i get coverage...so sometimes its difficult to predict whether my call is long distance or not....

Nontheless, is there a way to get the BB to not add that +1 everytime I click from the address book and instead just dial the raw number ive inputted into the address book?

Thanks!

From the home screen click on the phone icon- click on the scroll wheel- go to options- scroll down to smart dialing- look for country code- change it to unknown.. that should do it.

Hm...I am surprise it would make a difference on whether it is a long distance call or not because +1 is really the country code. I actually prefer all my numbers to begin with +1 as long as the number is in Canada or USA because no matter where I am (internationally mostly), it knows I am dailing a Canada/US number.

Hey unfortunately I don't have 'smart dialing' in options...Is there something I am doing wrong?

Is there another way or perhaps something I should install to change this option?

Thanks!

Thats funny am not sure why you dont have smart dialing option dont all 7290 run the same OS regardless of the services provider? maybe you need to reload your software.

Actually, TMobile (finally) posted the update to firmware version 4.1 last Friday (5/19/06).

Check with your provider, most providers should have version 4.1 for 7290's posted by now. If they don't, call them and make like a squeaky wheel!
