Switch to a theme that supports it. The one I know of is ZEN, it keeps your background screen on when in keyboard lock. This cannot be done in basic themes, you have to upgrade.

Yep. Dimension Today also supports it. Also requires an (even further) OS upgrade.

Hey Cooper, While i've got you on the topic...anything worth leaving Zen for other than Today themes? I know that it has been banged around quite a bit here but just looking for the straight scoop.

Have Zen, don't need today theme, any reason to upgrade?

I would say no. I haven't seen any real advantages to Tesltra over Bharti but for the ability to run the Today themes. I actually prefer the Zen theme in Bharti because you can turn the icon titles on the home screen off.
Okay, two small advantages to Telstra: 1) The new Vodafone theme (not Today, just the regular one) is better than the one in Bharti. It's now my favourite of the icon themes but I don't use it much. 2) If you are using themes with the applications subfolder (like Cingular, Orange and Vodafone), in the Tesltra OS the hotkeys work for both folders all the time. (For example, if you are on the homescreen in Vodafone, you can still use "U" to open Calculator which is in the Apps subfolder.)
Otherwise, while some people claim to have battery issues which make Tesltra worse, from my experience it's a complete wash.
If you primarily use Zen, don't upgrade.

Well stated and thanks. I only use ZEN so I am good!

Thanks Cooper,
JP

One more point. In Telstra you can turn data communication off and still leave your phone on. Not a biggie for me but another thing to consider.
Okay another. With Telstra, third party apps display properly on the home screen in Zen instead of that MSDos icon.
But I still think that Zen is better in Bharti.
