What are you trying to do? Reset the device? Wipe it out and go back to an initial setup?

yes. Trying to set it up as it's initial set up just like when you first get your blackberry and first time you turn it on.

The *safest* thing to do is to get a copy of "JL_CMDER" and wipe out the BB.

You will need to manually load the Handheld operating system back on to it - there is no button to reset a BlackBerry.

Thanks!
i have another question... one of my friends told me to charge the battery for at least 24 hr before I actually use it to maximize the battery life. Does that really matter?

There are many, many opinions about maximizing battery life. I, unfortunately, do not have one...

My opinion is (and just an opinion only)... charge it to 100% charge. How much more than 100% can you go? Allow the first few times to drain 20-30% of charge, and then each time charge fully to 100%.

After that under normal usage, top off the charge whenever you get a chance.

Wirelessly posted (Thumpers 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I concur with Sanders. I have ramped up many blackberries, and gaining a full 24hr charge, then allowing for complete depletion provides the best battery function. After this initial step, top off when possible.
