If by chance, one decides to install one of these betas, we need to delete the vendor.xml file. Correct?

One of the Blackberry publications released 4.5 beta links for most of the devices. For example, they have the 8800, 8820 but NO 8830.

The solution worked great... 4.5.0.37 seems to work great now. No glitches that I've discovered after two days of use.

I have installed v4.5.0.37 on my 8820 today, it appears to be running fine. However, I also have a copy of MemoryUp running on it, which when loaded displays an alarming memory leak from the system RAM. It could just be an incompatability problem but as I look at it now it shows 800 bytes a second dropping off of the free memory and being applied to the Used Memory. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

been running 4.5.0.37 on my 8820 for a whole day now. wifi has only dropped out once. and GPRS hasnt dropped out at all. which is a big improvement over 18.
memory leak is about the same as 4.2 no big deal. still have plenty in reserve.

at least this one is stable enough to be used 24/7 imho.
BBalpha sans ftw :D

I received a service update from Orange last night, within a minute of getting the message I was knoked off the EDGE network and onto gprs. No more data connection. Just rolling back to 4.2 to see if it fixes itself.

I put 4.5.0.37 on my 8800 last night...
I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread until I tried to log onto the wap site here...rather than allow me to type my login info, it would only allow me to save the link to my message list.
meh. I'll be going back to my 8820 until further notice.

Hi, I have a 8820 and am running v4.5.0.37 by Vodafone.

Since the upgrade I have the following problems;
- cant click on URL's (the pointer doesn't change into a hand nor does it allow me to follow the link by clicking on it)
- the backlight goes of way to fast, like 10 sec after activating screen (changing the option to 1 min or 90 sec does not have any effect)
- the backlight keeps blinking when blackberry is idle (as if its the led light, but there's no new message or missed call)

All my colleagues have the same problems therefore I know the above problems are not due to my settings but are a OS programming problem. We will advise all our customers (more then 1000 users) to wipe their blackberries and reinstall the old OS.

Are any of you experiencing the same problems or is this due to the alterations Vodafone have made to OS v. 4.5.0.37

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

That OS has many bugs in it. Check out the sticky threads in the 8800 forum and you'll find one for the latest OS for the 8820. Upgrade to that and your problems should be solved.
