Just throwing myself out there...

Some of you are mentioning that you are not getting emails via IMAP instantly. I would kindly offer a Google Search of "imap idle test". Then, you can see if your mail server supports the IMAP-idle command.

For the record, Thunderbird supports the command far better than Outlook. So for those of you using email clients, I would recommend the switch...

PS If anyone needs imap idle email hosting....let me know!

Can you be more specific on Thunderbird's IMAP support vs. Outlook?

My pleasure -

Even though Outlook officially supports IMAP-IDLE, I kindly offer you to test both T-bird and Outlook to be open at the same time.

Send an email to yourself, and 99% of the time, T-bird will receive the email faster than Outlook (which both support idle...so...)

The problem becomes much more prominent in low-memory machines. Outlook takes up far more memory, and the less RAM your computer has to spare, the longer Outlook takes to receive those IDLE messages. Just something we've noticed...the same is not true for T-bird.

I'm sure part of the reason is that T-bird is nowhere as bloated as Outlook

Well, once again, IMAP is back to 15 minute polling without warning - I bet if i delete the account and re-add it will be back top normal... until when?

I have not had much luck with instant email delivery on my school account. Recently the time delivery has been shorted from 15 minutes to about 5-10 minutes. That's quick enough for me.. for now.

I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is with this account. I am getting IMAP pushed through google apps to other accounts, but not for this one which Is my main one (and therefore receives more e-mails).

I tried to exclude the account and re-set it yesterday, IMAP Idle locked in and worked for around 8 hours... and then it reverted AGAIN to 15 minute polling.

Is anybody having the same issues?

Thanks.

Update: three other google apps for your domain ceased to push. 15 minute polling.

The IMAP access from blackberry always come from IP 216.9.253.150 on all google accounts.... but why it keeps idel on one account and gave up on others?

I still am getting gmail and google hosted apps within seconds via IMAP. Check to see if the mail server supports IMAP-IDLE and concurrent connections.

It's google hosted as well around here. By the way, the only servers I am having trouble with are google hosted... don't know why.

Im confused about something. Ive had my 8130 through Verizon since the day it came out. I setup my gmail with IMAP through the BIS back then, and have always had push email, which is what I thought Blackberry's were known for, but it seems like some of you are waiting up to 15 minutes get emails? Am I missing something here?

Noooo!

Sometime between 4:52AM CST 09/26 and 9:10AM CST 09/26 my IMAP idle was gone and was reverted back to the disgustingly slow 15 minute polling... did this happen to anyone else?

Edit: I'm using a normal Gmail account.

That's what happened to me before.

I had 6 accounts on google servers (google apps for your domain) being accessed.

I deleted them all and set only two of the six accounts and setup a (long delayed) forward from all left 4 addresses to my main one at the cpanel of each e-mail.

I don't know if that helped, but since then it's been a week and a half that it's been working fine.

Wow. That one month of IMAP idle was the best thing that's happened to me since I got my BB (FAR greater of an improvement than HTML emails, IMO). Now they took it away... why???!!! Sigh...

This is HELL. My e-mail reverted to polling AGAIN. AGAIN. Will I have to delete and re-add the account EVERY SINGLE TIME?
