I am traveling to France in a week. I want my bold to use voice roaming but not data. The hotel I am staying at has free wifi in their lobby.

If I set Options->Mobile Network->Data Service->Off when roaming will that prevent any data roaming but allow wifi connections? And will my phone still work?

I have at home. What seems to work is unchecking Mobile Network under manage connections and leaving Wifi checked. However when traveling I could care less about browser surfing. I really want to check my BIS email accounts a few times a day when connected to wifi. I read something where if the wifi network does not permit certain IP ports BIS connectivity will not work.

Anyone know about this? If so what port(s) are required for wifi-BIS connectivity?
