Default keyboard unlocking options.

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any other way or reassign a button to unlock the keyboard other than pressing the * then the phone button to unlock it. I lock mine before putting it into the holding. Put its a pain to press two button to unlock it with one hand etc.. Is there anyway to reassign the buttons or something. It would be great if you can just hit one of the buttons on the side to lock and unlock.

Anyone????

Ummmmm ..... No.

RIM won't let us play with any of the hard coded shortcuts, etc. If you are putting it into a case/holster that has the sleeper magnet, locking it is not really necessary. It doesn't really stop anyone from accessing it as the unlock instructions pop up on the screen. If you are doing so for security, you'd be better off to assign a password, but is many more keys to unlock then.

I personally don't bother as all my sensitive data is stored in DataVault, a password protected program.

Oh yeah, gotcha now. I suspect you'll get pretty quick at unlocking or get used to handling the device in a way so as not to hit buttons.

you mentioned 2 buttons with 1 hand. At first i was frustrated to think i need to press both bttons at same time with 1 or 2 hands. So in case you dont realize it, i'll throw it out there that you can press * and then the phone key in that order 1 at a time using your left thumb. Wasnt an issue for me once i realized that.
