Most of my phone numbers are 7 digits, I need them to be 10 digits, I am aware that if I go to smart dialing I can have a default are code added for that call. I would very much like the default area code added to all the phone numbers in my address book that do not already have one, all at once, and permanently, not one by one, call by call, temporarily.

If there is not a way on my BB, is there a way in either GMail or Yahoo? I sync my contacts to both. Or some other program that I can export my contacts in to, change them, and then re-import?

Other than what you may be be able to do with smart dialing, I see this as a manual, oneiby-one process

You can export the contacts from Gmail and use Excel to modify them.

This is a great little program for editing your contacts.

You still have to do them individually but it works very well. Just back up your address book then open the .ibd file with the program. Edit. Save. Reload.
