Could they rave about it any more than than?! Probably not! This might get BGR to forget about the iPhone. Of course we'll have to wait and see when the 9700 makes it into the publics' hands, but this sure sounds promising. Now, if they'd only make a CDMA version....

I am looking forward to this device as well. I will get one when Rogers releases. Just wondering though, when Telus launches their new network will I be able to use it on the new HSPA?

I didn't think it was a very good/objective/well-written/well organized review. I'd like to see a more even, objective, well written, well considered piece.

Great review.
I switched from an 8900 to an iPhone back in June. The 8900 was built like a POS and I wanted to try something different. Oh and the Bold is a brick in my opinion. The touchscreen is great for browsing, apps, games and a few other things, but is not that great for typing emails in my opinion. I am jonesing for a full QWERTY keyboard. If BlackBerry could come close to the iPhone's Safari browser, I would jump back in an instant. The jury is still out for me. We shall see once this puppy is released...

Don't expect this web browser to be significantly better than that on the Bold. I expect RIM's webkit browser is still a ways away.
That said, I can't wait for this device. I am as excited about this device as I was about getting the Bold, and I love my Bold. I have always wanted a cross between the 8900 and the 9000, and this appears to be it.

Will most certainly be upgrading to the 9700 from a Bold. To be honest, I would upgrade even if it were identical to the 9000 with the 8900 camera, so everything else is pure icing on the cake.

I agree. I always wished the bold had a better camera. 9700 is an all in one baby!

Ya I too agree it was an informative review however bgr tends to get a little too excited about every new bb that comes out. So when it comes to the keyboards, I can never take their word because when the curve II came out, they mentioned that the key pad feels cheap, yes, but they also mentioned that it was better than bolds and that's simply just not true. I haven't tried the tour but I haven't come across a better keypad on a bb then Bolds keypad. Bgr of course claims the keyboard is better then bolds so we'll have to wait and see. The battery review is also a bunch of rubbish imo. No way the same batt as the bolds can last much longer on a 3G phone with supposedly an 800mhz processor. Sorry but...no. My bold lasts about 4 hours per battery...and that's why I have 4 batteries. I am non stop on this phone (in fact I'm typing on it right now while sitting on the toilet at the office), and for them to say that it lasts twice as long almost...is not correct. They probably used a pre production unit with like beta OS on it. In that case...maybe. But one thing is for sure, the phone looks awesome and I'm all over this one like a pittbull on a shiatsu.

Is it safe to assume that all this rosy verbiage in this review will also apply to the T-Mobile version, aka the Driftwood?

We can only hope! . I'm still trying to get some answers on the whole "battery is different" situation. This doesn't make any sense to me...

That BGR review definitely got my heart rate up a few beats. Only the fact that I'm now a Sprint user tempers my fervor for this model. Back in my GSM days I would simply buy every new model that came down the pipe. But with CDMA it's too much of a pain to swap devices every time my mood changes, which is probably a good thing for me. Too much $$ spent on new devices and too much time spent on keeping 3 or 4 devices up to date with appointments/contacts.
