Hi
Today I downloaded weather eye, this is pants though as only seems to tell you U.S weather not U.K.
Anyway once this was downloaded i ended up with Gospoken Bookstore icon on my menu page, try as I might I acn not delete it at all!
Any ideas on why or how this happened? I have done a battery pull, but no success!
Cheers
Glyn

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

Its prob a service book, not an app. Just hide it

Yep. Very likely a service book. Check this article out: Vodafone, GoSpoken launch m-book store | theBookseller.com

This has nothing to do with WeatherEye and is purely coincidental that the Gospoken Bookstore icon showed up at the same time you downloaded WeatherEye. As dankarlinski mentioned, you just need to hide the icon. Deleting it will only lead to frustration as it will come back when Vodafone pushes it to your phone again.

UK carriers dont push service books links, like US carriers.

Id be surprised, but its possible.
sure fire way to find out, delete the service book for it, and resend service books. if it appears, then they are. If it doesn't, it was a strange coincidence.

Just found this article: Mobile Marketing Magazine: Faber and Faber Goes Mobile with GoSpoken

Specifically: A books-on-mobile icon was pushed out to all BlackBerry Storm and Bold devices on the Vodafone UK network in February this year.

This is from 2009, but apparently service book links are pushed by UK carriers. So... welcome to our hell! My new AT&T 9700 had dozens of crap service book links pushed to it when I registered to the network. I hate it.

I know. But how many people (us uber-nerds excluded) really pay attention to the icons on their phones? My father, for example, has had the 9000 for a while now, and yet just the other day he was asking about an icon that has been on his phone since day one!

With enough demand from consumers ... I seriously think the next prefered option within the Provider BIS interface is for users to select which 3rd party Service Books they can opt OUT of. We do, after all, pay for the service.

That would be nice, but realistically I don't see that ever happening.

That's because you have also enabled "show all." Just uncheck show all in the menu on the applications screen, and it will disappear.
