Default Getting Verizon 8830 what next

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, been reading about buying a BB off ebay and got the 8830 for $30.00. I have used the 8830 at work but this of course is a personal one. What if anything should I do once I get the new phone should I do software wise?

Read the FAQ article on buying a used BB on eBay. Pertains to buying any used BB from any source. Could save you some grief.

OS 4.5 is the latest OS for the 8830. It is pretty old as BBs go.

I think you are going to have to wait and see what you got once you have it in hand. You say you've read up, so you know what to be wary of. Hopefully there are no surprises.
As Dub says, that's an old device. The 64MB devices got to be pretty limited, and you may find yourself cramped with OS 4.5. Find John Clarks sticky post on deleting stuff you don't need to create more free memory. I think that's something you will want to do.

Yes, I just went from an 8830 to the 9630 a few months ago. After I had 4.5 on it, I only had like 8mb remaining. You'll only have room for a couple apps.

You will be limited. I like the keyboard. Again, just be choosy about your apps

yes, I really won't use many apps and I will be looking into taking extra Verizon stuff off as well. Really didn't want to shell out $149 for the 9630 right now and then get the cases and extra chargers I want. My wife has the new every 2 and I just got a normal renewal since we have a shared plan. This is a great forum and I have found myself reading so much it is hard retain it all.

Will adding a micro sd add memory or is that a different type memory?

a memory card will not add memory to the phone. It will be seperate memory for storing pics, vids, docs, music.

No, you don't need a SIM card for use within the US.
