It is do-able... But not worth it.

Since well, CDMA phones to begin with are FTL. Second, it is on the software level strictly, and it takes some work to do it.

To explain it in simple terms it's like the equivalent of debranding a GSM device, except here you have to rebrand and reprogram the ESN onto the new network.

I've seen it done, so it does exist. But like i said, not really worth it since its still a CDMA device and after the procedure it can only remain on the 'new' network.

Ie. for you USA guys this Sprint phone would be programed into the VErizon network.

Except that Verizon doesn't allow non Verizon devices on their network.

The same can be said for all CDMA carriers. The crucial part i seemed to forget to post *and can't edit*, was that someone working for Verizon and knowing what they're doing can get it to work within their system.

In canada, this guy took a Telus CDMA phone and registered it successfully on the Bell network [this was pre-HSPA on these networks] so security may be more tight now.

Regardless, it's do-able, but not worthwhile for any party.

OP sell it for parts on eBay. The best you can do on here is sell it for 20$ *if that* for someone who wants to give it to their kid as a toy... but that's what in-store dummy phones are for

True, it 'can' be done, you just have to have someone on the inside of the carrier to get the ESN entered into their system.

But, that very likely, normally, routinely, can't be done.

Like they said...

Although that song was popularized by Linda Rhonstadt, do you know who actually wrote it?
