What is the difference in the Profile setting options of Alert and New Message? Does Alert tell you of a new chat while new message is what it says?

Here's a question from new BB users -- my dad and I both got 7130e's from VZW this week and are playing with BB Messenger. We're sitting right next to each other and I noticed that when I send him a message, he gets a little "bubble" that pops up on the right side of his screen (the "messages" envelope is on the left, the "bubble" is on the right) and I don't. I can't find any option or anything to enable/disable this visual notification. When I get a new BB message from him, the only way I know it's there (after the audible alert) is that my LED flashes red and I don't show any new "mailbox" messages.

Any thoughts?

The bubble appears at the top right of the screen. Its not a configurable option.

Well - it wasn't appearing. I pulled out the battery and the bubble is back. Weird.
