I got a replacement for my previous Blackberry 8900 due to being faulty.

The replacement has a new device software installed and im having problems with my password lock.

On my previous 8900 when i used to lock the phone using the lock button and unlock it, the phone used to ask me for my password in order to unlock it.

However, this time when i press the lock button and i can unlock it immediately without entering the password. You have to wait 1min or so for the phone to ask for a password.


Why is this and why wont it ask for my password as soon as i lock it..?

You are seeing a change in function because of the newer OS version compared to what you had before. I know, it stinks. Nothing you can do except use other means to password lock. See if the 'K' key shortcut still works on your model and OS. Also, alt-return should work if it isn't assigned as a language shortcut. And then there's the lock icon.
