Welcome to BBF.
What you are trying to do with the WiFi connection, can't be done. The laptop would need to be a wireless hotspot for the BB to be able to use it, not just WiFi connection capability.
And you need a BB data plan to get the service books to allow you to access the RIM services such as email, BB Browser, BBM, Facebook, etc.
Please edit your profile to use the specific BB model number, not the nickname. There are several versions of the "Flip", so the specific model number is very helpful in trouble shooting.

MSN app on a blackberry requires a blackberry data plan anyway.

You shouldn't have gotten a BlackBerry without a data plan.

So... if the laptop has wifi and is connected to the internet, why would you not just use an MSN/Live client on the laptop instead?

I think maybe it is possible with Intel my wifi technology. I have paired my bb to my laptop with this, but never tried to use the wifi through it.

yall aint thinking bout this. tellin this poor guy to get a data plan! if your phone got wifi you can enjoy data without no expensive plan. you just gotta be in a wifi cloud. anywhere your laptop gets a wifi signal will work on ur bb. as long as the bb is wifi capable. rim dont want you doin it, neither does some of the other posters on the forum, i guess. they dont whanna feel bad bout payin soo much. now some software tries to tell you aint payin. like appworld. but look into aerize wifix. maybe we can find an alternative as well. but it will fool the phone. get ur apps working.
oh no! im all scared my posts are gonna get deleted. trying to tell people they can get what they need without paying a fortune. this is gonna piss someone off.

melder, that is not necessarily so. It depends on the carrier if you can get WiFi or not. Some carriers restrict and force you to get a BB data plan before they will send the WiFi service book, along with all the others.
In any case, the user MUST have a BB data plan to get any of the RIM related services, such as email, BBM, Facebook, etc.
