I sync with outlook.....
When I put something in my outlook and sync it shows up as a calendar entry on my BB using the BB mail address and not my personal one...(color is different)
But when I put in an event on My BB it's noted as an event using the default CIAL which is my personal email. ... and the event does not show up in my outlook calendar at all...

How do I remedy this AND how do I get rid of the "groups calendar"

Check the default services in options. Outlook sync's with the calendar set as the default CICAL. Also, set the default CICAL and default CMIME to the same address.

Don't know answer to second question.
