I want to switch phones curve8530 to storm9530. Do I have to call my carrier to do it(meaning the service)???

You will need to have the 9530 properly activated and then change the PIN and ESN on your BIS site to that of the new device. Generally easier just to call or go to a Verizon store to do it. Make sure the 9530 is a Verizon device or they will not activate it.

And don't forget to u[update your profile when you get the new one.
