How to remove carrier apps?
Please Login to Remove!
My phone came with a number of carrier apps which I would like to remove.
Some example are the following:
- GPS Navigator - This is a paid app.
- Bell TV Remote PVR - I don't have Bell IPTV
- Bell Self Serve - This doen't work.
- Bell News
- ZoomPass
- Wikitude
- Slacker
If someone can tell me how to remove this bloat-ware, I would appreciate it.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
They are just shortcuts to load the software. There is no software loaded (hence no bloatware).
Create a new folder called Junk. Move the icons into the folder. Hide it.
If you just delete them, the carrier will push them back.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
You can't delete the shortcuts/icons, you can only hide them, as they are not installed (software)...follow the above steps as the posters have mentioned. I did the same.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
Thanks for the replies. I thought there were some tools that you could use to remove unwanted apps. If it's possible, I'd like to know how. If the apps get pushed back onto the phone, then I'll try burying them.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
As stated above, they're not apps. They're shortcuts to download apps, service books. Which can be deleted, but will be pushed back to the device. Follow the steps above and avoid the frustration.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
1. Go into the Service Books.
2. Delete the entries for those launchers.
3. Be content and proud of yourself that you have "outsmarted the carrier".
4. Realize that you aren't really smarter when they are pushed back to the device.
5. Follow the steps listed by others in the posts higher in this thread.
Or save time and just do number 5.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
I suggest you look for the tools you've mentioned to help you remove the applications. Spend a couple of hours looking for them, then read post #2.
Get over it.

Re: How to remove carrier apps?
I wish we could do that on BESX, but there are only 2 browser rules in the browser policy on BESX...and neither apply to this.

Based on the wording in the article, it appears to be non-specific (i.e., it blocks all application downloads). Have you tried this? If it blocks all application downloads I would not want to try it.

Considering that I received a real answer to my question, who's the stubborn one?

Are you on a BES? Do you know what a BES is? Something tells me you aren't and the answer would be of no relevance to you. If you are on a BES, this won't help you anyway, since you're not the BES admin. Get over it.

What's with your know it all attitude? I know what a BES is and I know who the BES admin is and I get along with him fine, thank you very much. You obviously know a lot about BlackBerry, but something tells me you get kicks from lording that over people.
