All the instructions seem to involve installing and/or manipulating files (e.g. the alx) using a PC. Can this be done on a Mac? I use Pocket Mac.

No, there is no equivalent Mac program for the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on the PC. Because of this, there is no way to manipulate the files needed to add themes.
