I'm sure I chose the proper versions for the 7xxx series BBs - but still no dice. I double checked the memory specs on both the 8700 and 7130 and both had the same RAM/Storage specs... there was plenty of free memory on the 7130 to accept the new applications. They just wouldn't install properly. This raised a number of red flags in my head about the reliability of the new 7130c handset and I decided it best to go back to the 8700c and return the 7130.
Done deal? Being on the bleeding edge of new tech is one of the games I play with myself. I love the newest and greatest - but in this case, I thought that erring on the side of reliability would be my best bet...
All that said, if anyone knows why it is the case that these errors were popping up and know how to fix it, I'd be more than willing to try again...

I posted the fix to the "too many apps on device" error in my thread on the issue.
The problem is that the Blackberry can only hold 250 .cod files. For some reason the 7130c comes with support for every single language preinstalled. Each language contains multiple .cod files. With all of these languages installed you quickly go over the .250 limit when you start adding extra apps.
Once you remove all the extra languages your device works fine.
I've had zero issues loading third party applications ( knock on wood
) since I removed everything but support for USA English.
